Local Information

The weather

We have had some queries regarding the weather here in August and what sort of clothing we would advise you to bring. The reason why the British talk so much about the weather is because of its unpredictability, so our advice would be to come prepared for all weather! Typically we would expect temperatures to be in the mid 20s (Celsius) with the occasional rain shower, so you may want to bear this in mind, particularly with the Wednesday social outings where you will be exposed to the weather for longer periods.

Arrival in Exeter

The university’s delegate joining instructions include information on travel to the University of Exeter and the check-in procedure. Accommodation for those on the all-inclusive package is provided in Holland Hall and check-in will be open from 15:00 until 22:30. Please make sure you read the instructions carefully - if you arrive after 22:30 you are advised to call Campus Security who will meet you and check you in. The telephone number is detailed in page 5 of the delegate joining instructions. Accommodation is provided from the 21st-26th August inclusive (6 nights), unless you have chosen and paid for additional accommodation before or after the conference.

The conference will begin with a welcome drinks reception and buffet at Holland Hall on the Sunday evening from 19:00 for all delegates and partners. You will have the opportunity to collect your delegate pack before the conference on Monday.

Getting from Holland Hall to the Forum

The accommodation is 5-10 mins walk from the Forum where the conference takes place. The walking route is given by the blue arrows on this map.

Posters

Please note that our poster boards measure 894 mm wide by 1660 mm high, and are therefore a suitable size for an A0 poster in portrait orientation (or an A1 poster in landscape orientation).

The poster boards will be available from 08:00 on Monday 22nd for you to put up your poster. We will provide velcro tabs for fixing your poster to the board.

We are offering the opportunity for you to submit a PDF of your poster to the University printers for local printing. If you want to use this service then your poster must be submitted by 1700BST on Wedneday 17th August. You will have to pay for your poster when you pick it up. The Print and Copy Services is based in the Forum and is open from 08:45 on Monday 22nd August.
